Fall Break 2015

Confession. We bought a selfie stick. Embarrassing? Yes. Overused on our vacation? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Ever since we booked our cruise, Jared has been talking about getting a selfie stick. For a while I thought he was joking. He wasn’t.  I still can’t believe we have one. But we were able to get some fun pictures of our whole family on our vacation.

We spent two days in Orlando at Sea World before we set sail on our Cruise to the Bahamas. Sea World was fun, as always. We also spent some time at Gaylord Palms, which was beautiful!

Jared and I were so excited to take the kids on a cruise. They loved it! Liam spent the whole week asking “Are we still on a boat?!?!” And he would constantly say things like “I didn’t know there were restaurants on a boat!” “I can’t believe there are pools on this boat!” “I didn’t know there were hotels on this boat!” He was so mesmerized by everything! Both kids were super good and just loved the experience.

Our first stop was Coco Cay, Bahamas. It was absolutely beautiful. We loved swimming, walking the island, laying in hammocks, watching the wild chickens and iguanas, and just being at the beach! Jared and the kids snorkeled a bit. The kids made bracelets and their own lake at the kids club, which was Liam’s highlight of the day. We saw a stingray, jellyfish, and huge conch shell crabs. I could have stayed there on that island forever.

The next day we ported at Nassau, Bahamas. She did a little shopping and sight-seeing. We got back on the ship for a late lunch. We had planned to walk to the beach, but it started raining so we just chilled on the ship until dinner.

We spent the last day at sea. The kids swam, played in the splash pad, sat in the hot tubs, and jumped on the bungee trampolines. We ate and ate and ate. We joined some pretty fun dance parties too. Ask Jared to do the Wobble.  I think that was his favorite! It was such a wonderful vacation. We cannot wait to do it again!

We are so grateful to both have jobs that we love and the means to be able to experience things like this together as a family.

Apple Picking

We had Liam’s first soccer game this weekend. He cried the whole time. Fail. He was doing great passing with some kids on his team before it really started. Then the coach said something to him that scared him and it was all over. Tears for the next hour. Bless his sensitive little heart. We tried everything we could think of. I said a prayer with him. Jared took him on a walk and talked to him. Nothing worked. Next week we will send just Daddy and Liam and see if he does better. After soccer we went apple picking-always a family favorite.

Labor Day Weekend

A three day weekend! Yipee. I wanted to relax. I did everything but relax. And I’m okay with that. We started the weekend by going to the laser show with friends. There was only a 20% chance of rain. As soon as we got to our perfect spot on the lawn to sit down and eat dinner it started thundering and lightning. Before Liam freaked, we ran in and ate inside the building waiting for the storm to pass. The storm cooled things off and it ended up being really pleasant. The kids ran their little hearts out waiting for the show to start and we all enjoyed the show together.

Jared worked on Saturday morning so the kids and I joined my family for a morning hike. It was so fun and the view at the top was exquisite. The kids were troopers and hiked the whole way up and down. Liam tripped and fell on the way down and bloodied his knees. That half of the trip down was especially fun. Then we met up with Daddy and went out on our friend’s boat. Lydia loved tubing behind the boat and Liam loved watching.  He was not about to get on that thing. We beached the boat and grilled dinner. The kids loved playing in the water. It was a weekend well spent.
